PRN Occupational Therapist - Pediatrics, Creighton Pediatric Therapy
Position OverviewEmployee will primarily be located in pediatric inpatient care on weekends but may also cover hours in the outpatient clinic during the week, Monday‑Friday. Employees are responsible for supporting the mission and goals of Creighton Pediatric Therapy.
ResponsibilitiesEvaluates patients with known or suspected health conditions and performs therapeutic treatment procedures as indicated. Makes patient referrals to other health‑care agencies or disciplines as necessary. Instructs patients and family members in individualized activity programs designed to maximize functional abilities. Completes timely documentation.
Essential Functions- 60% – Evaluate and treat individuals with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities to promote independence.
- 25% – Use computer programs to assist with administrative responsibilities related to clinical practice.
- 15% – Coordinate care between a healthcare team related to patient care.
Graduation from an occupational‑therapy education program is required. Experience in feeding, eating, and swallowing is preferred but not required. Three years of pediatric occupational‑therapy experience is preferred. Proficiency with common occupational‑therapy standardized assessments, understanding of childhood development, and application of treatment procedures are required. Completion of HIPAA training, immunization, background check, drug screen, and NPI number & insurance credentialing prior to independent patient care is required.

- Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple assignments, and respond to requests.
- Resolve conflict among staff and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Concentrate, focus, problem‑solve, and make decisions.
- Self‑control and stress tolerance when dealing with multiple requests and conflicting demands.
- Clear verbal, non‑verbal, and written communication skills, especially in recording evaluations and patient progress notes.
- Effectively execute tasks under stress with frequent interruptions.
- Self‑starting and self‑motivating.
- Experience in clinical education and student learning within the clinical learning environment.
- Collaborate with other therapy disciplines to co‑treat and coordinate care as needed.
- Use the clinic documentation system independently following training/orientation.
Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice Occupational Therapy in Nebraska. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
