Job Summary / Purpose
Under the direction of a licensed practitioner and with little supervision, performs procedures, using diagnostic imaging equipment designed for ultrasound imaging. Provides health care services as needed, using ultrasound to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Performs procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
Provides patient care and recognizes essential critical thinking skills needed for successful completion of procedure.
- Assess patients and their ability to participate in ordered procedures. Provide a clear explanation of the procedure including duration, process, and what to expect following completion.
- Provide patient education as appropriate.
- Obtain patient consent for care and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Select proper equipment, set correct technical factors, establish protocol and gather supplies prior to performing the procedure.
- Obtain clear and complete history from the patient and/or record, documenting data to assist in image interpretation.
- Perform quality assessment of images and evaluate equipment issues, escalating concerns as indicated.
- Complete quality tests on equipment as required.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
- Perform other duties within scope of role as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- ARDMS board certification within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required upon hire
Preferred:
- 6‑9 months of ultrasound experience
$30.76 - $45.76 /hour
