Overview

Start your career with one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest independent clinical and anatomic laboratories, now expanding into Omaha! As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting diagnostic testing through accurate specimen processing and hands-on laboratory support. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to gain practical laboratory experience while contributing to patient care.

Schedule

Saturday & Sunday 9:00pm – 1:00am

Pay

Starts at $17.00 per hour with an additional night differential

What You’ll Do

Specimen Processing & Integrity

  • Accurately receive, identify, label, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, and prepare specimens for testing or transport
  • Maintain specimen integrity by following established handling, storage, and processing protocols
  • Enter patient and specimen data accurately into laboratory information systems

Laboratory Support

  • Assist Medical Technologists (MTs) and Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) with laboratory procedures, including plating samples and preparation work
  • Operate automated instruments and laboratory equipment; perform basic troubleshooting as needed
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and maintain required documentation (temperature logs, maintenance logs, etc.)

Operational & Administrative Support

  • Stock supplies, manage inventory, sanitize work areas, and maintain organized work spaces
  • Answer phones and communicate professionally with team members and clients
  • Follow all safety standards, HIPAA guidelines, and regulatory requirements

Team & Professional Standards

  • Maintain strong working relationships with laboratory team members to promote efficiency and collaboration
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and punctual attendance
  • Adapt to evolving workflows and support operational needs as volumes grow
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred
  • Prior experience in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting
Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a clinical laboratory environment and may involve prolonged standing or sitting, repetitive hand motions, and working at a computer or workbench.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed
  • Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Ability to read specimen labels and interpret data accurately

OSHA Category

This position involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. Employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
