Assistant Director of Mental and Behavioral Health

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Mental and Behavioral Health Assistant Director oversees the quality and integrity of clinical mental health services delivered in the Next Step Program. This includes supervising specific staff in the Next Step Program, ensuring trauma-informed, person-centered care, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. The Mental and Behavioral Health Assistant Director provides direct oversight of assessments, treatment planning, and interventions of the Next Step Program to support residents experiencing homelessness, often with co-occurring mental health, substance use, and chronic health issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A full job description will be provided for review during the interview process.

  • Review and approve assessments, treatment plans, ISPs, case management notes, and progress notes of the Next Step program direct care staff.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation meets agency, funder, and regulatory standards (e.g., DHHS, CARF, Medicaid).
  • Contribute to the creation and enforcement of clinical and programmatic Next Step policies.
  • Maintain regular one-on-one coaching of direct reports, including individual goal-setting, performance evaluations, and professional development. Support and guide employees in their personal, professional, and spiritual growth. Submit documentation to HR as appropriate.
  • Exemplify Jesus Christ daily, sharing the gospel or praying with others as opportunities arise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in human services, social/behavioral science, or a closely related field.
  • Actively holds a clinical license such as LIMHP.
  • 3+ years of experience working with populations experiencing poverty and housing insecurity.
  • A solid, visible relationship with Christ.

  • Proven track record of working with diverse groups, including but not limited to colleagues, leadership teams, community partners, and state legislators, with an ability to build consensus.
  • Progressive leadership skills demonstrated within the Behavioral Health field, including but not limited to proactive approaches to problem-solving and strong decision-making capabilities.
