In a career as an MRI Technologist, you join us in providing life‑changing care to patients from across the region. You will complete a variety of tasks involved in the performance of MRI scans.
Schedule: Part‑time, 20 hours a week, day & weekend hours.
Location: West Hospital.
- Perform complex, specialized tasks associated with the operation of the MRI scanner in accordance with prescribed safety procedures, including all patient screening procedures.
- Ensure that for all scans the correct patient, imaging site, patient positioning, proper protocols and scan parameters are verified.
- Position and instruct patients for MRI scans using immobilization, support, and protective devices.
- Administer contrast media when indicated; screen and educate patients regarding contrast media, possible reactions, and post‑procedure instructions; implement emergency procedures for contrast reactions.
- Send images to PACS and demonstrate basic knowledge of PACS software.
- Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure, and appropriately label them.
- Route images and appropriate history electronically to the interpreting radiologist.
- Ensure correct charging of procedures and supplies.
- Participate in department performance improvement and survey readiness activities.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Radiology service standards.
- Provide patient care and education according to the patient population served.
- Graduate of an AMA‑approved, accredited School of Radiologic Technology or a U.S. Military‑approved radiologic program.
- ARRT certification in Radiography and MRI within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- CPR certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire if employed in the Cognitive Neuroscience department.
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of hire if employed in the Cognitive Neuroscience department.
