Job Summary
Location:
Methodist Physicians Clinic - Papillion, 101 E Centennial Road Papillion, NE
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday (rotating days), 10am - 10pm; rotating every other weekend 12pm - 6pm
- Assist physicians in daily activities such as phone calls, report preparation, exam room preparation, and lab result checking.
- Document labs, procedures and appointments on tracking forms; follow up on missed appointments.
- Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments.
- Provide patient and family education, recommend community resources, and educate patients per provider direction (98% of the time).
- Perform telephone triage, record and report patient condition, and advise patients based on provider instructions. Respond to patient calls within 90 minutes based on medical priority (95% of the time).
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring a healthy environment.
- Handle prescription renewals and inquiries; discuss questions with provider and relay information to pharmacy.
- Prepare exam rooms and equipment and stock supplies.
- Prepare patients for provider exam, review medical records, weigh, check vitals, perform medication reconciliation.
- Assist providers retrieving test results, lab work, and medication dispensing.
- Assist and/or perform phlebotomy with proper labeling, specimen handling, and documentation.
- Ensure accurate order entry and documentation (98% accuracy).
- Answer phone calls and return messages according to protocol (98% accuracy).
- Provide test results and pharmacy refills accurately.
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program with externship/preceptorship, or 6 months current experience as a medical assistant.
- Alternatively, current enrollment in a nursing program with at least half of courses completed.
- School transcripts showing completed classes.
- Experience:
6 months previous medical assistant experience preferred. - Licenses/Certifications:
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 3 months of hire;
Medication Aide certification required within 2 months. - Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Strong time‑management and prioritization skills.
- Proficient at typing information into computer systems.
- Excellent verbal communication and patient interaction skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and provide caring patient care.
- Flexibility and problem‑solving abilities.
- Computer literacy: ability to navigate patient information systems.
