Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, the CNA provides personal care and assists with activities of daily living. In addition to responsibilities that insure individual health and safety, the CNA will support the individual and promote individual growth through the development and implementation of habilitative programs. The CNA may also function as part of the individuals’ IPP Team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs routine specialized procedures as delegated by the RN.

  • Provides and respects the privacy and confidentiality of the individuals served.

  • Assists in the orientation of new staff.

  • Maintains a professional appearance, behavior and environment.

  • Performs all miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • OTHER JOB DUTIES
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be at least 19 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED.

  • Certification in the State of Nebraska as a Nurse’s Aide and one year of experience in a hospital or nursing home, or two years’ experience in human services preferred.

  • ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE,

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to provide services on flexible basis and work varied hours which include days, evenings, overnights, holidays and weekends.

  • Ability to learn and perform specialized care procedures.

  • Ability to read, understand and verbally communicate written materials and direction.

  • Work as an effective team member in all settings.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background and adult protective/child protective service check.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing with reliable transportation and state required auto insurance.

  • Ability to interact professionally with Agency personnel, State personnel, and individuals served and their families.

  • Self-directed with the ability to work autonomously, using appropriate judgement and requiring minimal direct supervision.

  • Ability to respond to emergencies.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • In this job capacity you will be fully submerged into supported persons’ home and community, including but not limited to stores, movie theaters, medical facilities, places of worship, hobbies and interests, person centered celebrations, outdoors (gardens, parks, etc.) and restaurants.

  • A pre-employment physical and back screen will be completed to qualify you for the essential functions of the job.

  • Must be able to lift at least 70 pounds, to assist supported individuals in everyday tasks that require mobility they may be limited to (i.e. assisting in/out of wheelchair, in/out of vehicles, Hoyer lift, raised toilet seats, etc.).

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, walk, sit, stand, climb, push, carry, and grasp.
