General Manager Holiday Inn Downtown Waterpark Position Summary

The Holiday Inn Downtown Waterpark is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to lead the hotel’s overall operations, financial performance, team development, and guest experience.

The General Manager is responsible for providing strong operational leadership while ensuring the hotel consistently meets or exceeds company, brand, and guest-service standards. This position requires a hands‑on leader who understands hotel operations, knows how to manage to a budget, develops strong teams, and takes ownership of the property’s results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for all hotel departments and operations.
  • Drive hotel profitability through effective management of revenue, labor, expenses, and departmental performance.
  • Review financial statements, forecasts, budgets, payroll, and operating results and take corrective action when needed.
  • Manage labor and staffing levels based on occupancy, business demand, and budget expectations.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop department leaders and hotel associates.
  • Hold department heads accountable for performance, standards, productivity, and results.
  • Maintain high standards for guest service, cleanliness, safety, and overall hotel presentation.
  • Ensure guest rooms, public areas, waterpark operations, and other hotel facilities are maintained to brand standards.
  • Respond effectively to guest concerns and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Holiday Inn and IHG brand standards, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Lead regular inspections of the property and follow through on maintenance, cleanliness, and operational deficiencies.
  • Work closely with Sales and Revenue Management to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall hotel revenue.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate accounts, local businesses, community partners, and key customers.
  • Monitor online reviews and guest feedback and implement strategies to improve guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable employment, safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute action plans to improve financial and operational performance.
  • Conduct regular department meetings and communicate expectations, goals, and company initiatives.
  • Create a positive, accountable, and professional hotel culture.
  • Be visible and engaged with both guests and employees.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities required to successfully operate the hotel.
Financial & Operational Leadership

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong business acumen and take ownership of the hotel’s financial results, including:

  • Revenue generation and overall hotel profitability
  • Labor and payroll management
  • Departmental expense control
  • Budget development and adherence
  • Forecasting and business planning
  • Revenue and occupancy performance
  • Cost-control initiatives
  • Productivity and staffing efficiency
  • Capital and maintenance priorities

The General Manager must be comfortable reviewing financial reports and translating the numbers into specific operational actions.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive hotel management experience
    , preferably in a General Manager or senior hotel leadership position.
  • Previous experience managing a full-service, limited-service, or resort-style hotel preferred.
  • Experience with hotel budgeting, forecasting, payroll, labor management, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations and departmental functions.
  • Previous experience leading and developing department heads and hourly associates.
  • Strong guest-service and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
