Position Overview

The Payroll Specialist supports the accurate and timely processing of multi‑state payroll in a high‑volume, automated environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, state tax requirements, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enter, review, and validate payroll data, including mileage, PTO, reimbursements, and time and attendance records.
  • Process payroll information from point‑of‑care (POC) systems or telephony‑based timekeeping platforms.
  • Ensure accurate application of pay codes, pay rates, and wage and hour guidelines.
  • Audit payroll entries completed by other staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support internal employees by responding to payroll‑related questions, including tax inquiries, W‑2 access, password resets, and Workforce Now navigation.
  • Run payroll reports such as payroll history, audit reports, and workers’ compensation reports.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation, Department of Labor, and unemployment audits.
  • Support year‑end payroll activities, including 401(k) catch‑up processing.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience processing payroll in a multi‑state environment.
  • Data entry experience with high accuracy.
  • Experience working with both U.S. and Canadian currency.
  • ADP Workforce Now experience.
  • Experience using Empower (401(k) platform).
  • Knowledge of state payroll taxation and unemployment tax requirements.
  • Experience with ETime.
  • Auditing experience related to workers’ compensation, DOL, and unemployment.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
Work Environment & Expectations
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to resolve internal payroll questions.
  • Assist employees with tax‑related inquiries and system navigation.
  • Support data flow between ETime and ADP systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information with discretion.
  • Ensure compliance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requirements and all applicable wage and hour laws.
