The PositionThe Associate HR Generalist supports the day-to-day effectiveness of Yahoo's HR Generalist team by providing flexible Generalist coverage, coordinating HR projects, improving operational processes, and supporting initiatives that strengthen how the team works.
This role works across multiple business groups rather than supporting one dedicated client group. You'll partner closely with HR Business Partners, HR Answers, and Centers of Excellence to help deliver consistent HR support, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to projects that enhance the employee experience.
What You'll Do Generalist Support- Provide HR Generalist coverage during planned and unplanned absences, including PTO, leaves, and periods of increased business demand.
- Assist with employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, offboarding, organizational changes, and other HR operational support.
- Manage employee inquiries and cases through Service Now, partnering with the appropriate teams to drive timely resolution.
- Conduct intake and analysis of employee requests while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, programs, and procedures, partnering with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders as needed.
- Support Tier 2 escalations and Employee Relations matters, as needed.
- Coordinate cross-functional HR projects involving HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, HRIS, Payroll, Legal, and other partners.
- Monitor project progress, communicate updates, and help ensure deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Support change management activities for new HR processes and programs.
- Partner across HR teams to scale new and existing programs while ensuring operational consistency.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, workflows, and employee experiences.
- Coordinate the implementation of process improvement initiatives from planning through execution.
- Maintain and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, knowledge articles, and team playbooks.
- Analyze HR ticketing and operational data to identify trends and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency and customer experience.
- Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, automate repetitive work, and improve operational efficiency.
- Create repeatable AI-assisted workflows, prompts, and documentation that support consistent execution across the HR team.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and emerging technologies to improve workflows and operational effectiveness.
- Apply AI responsibly while maintaining confidentiality, data privacy, and compliance with company policies.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and continuously explore new ways to improve how work gets done.
- Support reporting and dashboard preparation to help measure operational effectiveness.
- Use operational data and reporting to identify trends, support decision-making, and improve the employee experience.
- 3+ years of HR Generalist, HR Operations, Shared Services, People Operations, or related HR experience in an organization with shifting priorities and multiple stakeholders.
- Experience advising managers or employees on HR policies, employee lifecycle processes, and workplace questions.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional projects or process improvement initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience working within an HR ticketing or case management system (Service Now preferred) and an HRIS such as Workday.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar technologies to improve productivity and solve business problems, applied responsibly with attention to confidentiality, data privacy, and compliance.
- Experience creating and maintaining process documentation, SOPs, or knowledge management resources.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Analytical skills using Excel or Google Sheets to identify trends in operational data.
- Working knowledge of core HR policies and employee lifecycle processes.
- Clear, professional communication with managers and employees, in writing and in person.
- Experience partnering across HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, and other stakeholders to deliver shared outcomes.
- Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn and adopt emerging technologies.
