Systems Engineer - Windows

Overview

As our Systems Engineer-Windows
, you will be responsible for administering and supporting complex systems, resolving escalated service issues, and maintaining the health of assigned systems to ensure system availability and performance to meet organizational requirements. This role is a key support position within the Information Technology department and will be called upon to assist in the resolution of technical issues. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, configuration, security, resource monitoring and reporting, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to support enterprise growth and the corporate business plan.

This position is onsite in Omaha, Nebraska.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and performance of the Windows systems (on-prem and AWS), middleware and software, including hardware (physical and virtual) to support a high volume of transactions with high availability and failover capability
• Manage and support virtual infrastructure using VMware and Hyper-V, including support of storage and system backups
• Collaborate with engineers or software developers in evaluating design solutions and vendor products to determine those that best meet company needs
• Assists in identifying system data, hardware, or software components required and in monitoring system performance, integrity and security
• Responsible for providing system security and performance reports to management and to alert management of any suspected issues
• Assists in system hardware, cloud infrastructure and software patching, upgrades and coordinates system wide maintenance procedures to ensure system availability
• Ensures patching of systems within area of responsibility
• Participates in scheduled on-call duties:
  Must be available 24 hours/day to receive calls, investigate and solve issues during on-call assignment
• Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors
• Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little notice
• Abide by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance

• Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, team player, and possessing proven problem-solving skills
• Self-starter with proven track record of delivering results
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server OS and Active Directory
• Experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and Hyper-V virtualization platforms
• Familiarity with AWS services, IAM, EC2, and cloud best practices
• Experience with SAN storage technologies and performance tuning
• Proficiency in backup and disaster recovery solutions (Rubrik, Cybernetics)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 administration
• Must become proficient in Oriental Trading Company operational procedures and systems capabilities

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 3–5 years of experience in a systems engineering or administration role
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and backup systems
• Experience supporting enterprise IT environments and participating in IT projects

• Ability to perform job duties in a safe and secure manner
