Business Systems Analyst Summary of Position

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for assisting in reviewing, modifying and recommending business requirements applied to company databases and system applications. This role works closely with the technical team to test solutions, record and track technical issues and implement any needed changes. The Business System Analyst gathers data on what business requirements should be included during the design stage and they must have a thorough understanding of the Company's business and the issues and challenges facing the industry and organization.

This role will also assist in recognizing how the Company may leverage its strengths and improve its weaknesses through various business processes.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist in planning, conducting and directing the analysis of highly complex business problems to be solved with automated solutions.
  • Work on mission-critical high value projects with large scale customer impact.
  • Support development staff by addressing functionality questions and resolving issues.
  • Assist in creating process engineering and/or business flow assessments to ensure appropriate design of solutions.
  • Assist with research, evaluating, design and implementing automated solutions that meet the business needs in the most efficient and cost‑effective way possible. Determine necessary program changes.
  • Evaluate user request for new automated solutions to determine feasibility, time required, and compatibility with other GDS programs/functions. Consult with user to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
  • Verify program logic and correct functionally by implementing test/beta situations.
  • Estimate and prepare timelines for specific project tasks.
  • Develop and maintain training and implementation manuals regarding automated systems.
  • Assist with formulating plans outlining steps required to develop programs and submit plans to the end user for final approval. Prepares flow charts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps the program must follow and to describe logical operations involved.
  • Work with development teams to estimate and prepare timelines for specific projects.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and take ownership in the process through handoff to support staff.
  • Assist in preparing input to and/or proposals, functional requirements, presentations and reports for existing and potential clients.
  • Support the Sr. Business System Analysts on projects.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years travel technology industry experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year proven development of analysis experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong customer service and written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Subject matter expert in cross‑functional domains.
  • Must have sound analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • SQL Experience a plus.
  • Understanding and ability to read XML output.
  • Must have working knowledge of GDS functionality (Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport). Travel Sky knowledge a plus, but not required.
