Location: Omaha NE and Berkeley Heights, NJ - 5 Days onsite
Type: Contract to hire
Job DescriptionThe Application Developer is responsible for analysis, coding, testing, and maintaining application software. This role supports existing business systems and works closely with senior developers and application architects to identify business needs and deliver appropriate technical solutions. Responsibilities include hands-on coding, assisting with design activities, and documenting technical requirements for business applications. This position also participates in 24x7 on-call production support
.
- Analyze, code, test, and maintain application software.
- Support existing business applications and ensure ongoing stability.
- Collaborate with senior developers and application architects to understand business needs and propose effective technical solutions.
- Assist in designing and documenting technical requirements for business applications.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call system support as needed.
- Recent hands-on experience with Assembler is required.
- Strong knowledge of Assembler, CICS, COBOL, DB2, MQ, and Mainframe infrastructure
; exposure to emerging technologies is a plus. - Intertest experience is a significant advantage.
- Background in credit/debit or financial systems
. - Ability to learn quickly, with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- Deep knowledge of application development technologies, tools, methodologies, and IT functional areas.
- Must be able to support production, including availability for on-call support when required.
- Contributes to team capability by mentoring junior staff, answering technical/process questions, and sharing best practices.
- Expert in multiple programming languages and tools.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies.
- Strong understanding of application development technologies, methodologies, and tools.
- Solid understanding of business processes and how technology enables business outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of complex internal business functions.
- Ability to work independently on moderate to complex projects.
- Collaborates with IT and business units to recommend improvements to system applications.
- Provides coaching and leadership to less experienced IT staff and business stakeholders.
- 8+ years of related IT experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, equivalent work experience, or military experience.
