Data Engineer

We are seeking a high-performing data engineer to join our team building and modernizing aggregated data products for a group insurance small business unit. The role focuses on migrating pipelines from Informatica and Teradata to cloud solutions (AWS, Snowflake, Mongo

DB) and enhancing our data architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from various sources into a centralized data platform.
  • Migrate existing pipelines to AWS‑Snowflake architectures, automating workflows to ensure data availability and quality.
  • Implement and optimize ETL and ELT processes, developing transformation logic to clean, enrich, and aggregate raw data for analysis and reporting.
  • Architect and manage enterprise‑level data warehouses and data mesh solutions using Amazon, Snowflake, and Mongo

    DB.
  • Define and enforce governance standards, security policies, and best practices for data storage, access, and usage.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical data models (dimensional modeling, star schemas) that support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and data scientists to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data structures.
  • Work with relational database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server, Amazon RDS, Snowflake) and document databases (Mongo

    DB) to manage structured and unstructured data.
  • Leverage and integrate various cloud services on AWS, Snowflake, and Mongo

    DB to build and deploy data solutions, monitoring performance and optimizing costs.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and foster a collaborative environment with cross‑functional engineers, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers, promoting best practices and continuous learning.
  • Apply strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and clear communication to collaborate across teams and document processes.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion, encouraging diverse ideas and perspectives.
  • Research and adopt new technologies through diligent investigation.
  • Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Participate in Agile methodologies using JIRA and Confluence, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Adapt to changing requirements, work independently when needed, and deliver high‑quality work on schedule.
  • Apply learning agility to quickly learn new technologies, frameworks, and tools.
  • Scenario:
    If hired permanently, participate in on‑call rotation providing timely technical assistance during off‑hours.
Deliverables
  • Lead modernization efforts to migrate current pipelines to AWS, Snowflake, and Mongo

    DB.
  • Perform data modeling and warehousing on Snowflake.
  • Deliver on assigned stories, ensuring NFRs are met and data is accurate and available.
  • Provide automated integration, interaction, and end‑to‑end tests for all delivered code.
  • Maintain consistent, clear, and concise code and documentation.
  • Participate actively in Agile team processes, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Follow security policies, standards, and expectations.
  • Communicate effectively using Microsoft Teams, JIRA, and email, escalating blockers with impact assessment immediately.
  • Collaborate across functions and teams, taking ownership of assigned stories and seeking clarification promptly.
Team Description

Our data team currently modernizes data pipelines from Informatica and Teradata to cloud data solutions, utilizing AWS, Snowflake, Mongo

DB, and Python. We seek experienced data engineers with strong database, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT knowledge, plus experience designing, architecting, and implementing data solutions in AWS and Snowflake. Experience in document databases is a significant plus.
