Nutrition Services Division Manager

Responsible for maintaining the software systems used in the Nutrition Services Division and the school cafeterias, day-to-day management and inventory of the computers and printers, troubleshooting, machine imaging, and software installation. Responsible for daily system support, training staff on the various software used in all Nutrition Services locations, and development of end-user training guides. Will work with Nutrition Services staff to develop various reports and maintain Nutrition Services website pages.

Work closely with the Nutrition Services management team to develop recommendations for future needs, participate in equipment selection, and develop and refine business processes to promote overall efficiency of the Nutrition Services Division.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot system issues, perform general computer maintenance, and conduct repairs as needed.
  • Conduct inventory management for software, hardware assets, and supplies.
  • Maintain and track the use of computer supplies in the school kitchens/cafeterias.
  • Manage daily operations of network and workstation infrastructure; assess new hardware regularly; upgrade system infrastructure; and maintain a secure computing environment.
  • Attends team meetings and monthly User Support meetings to collaborate with the building technology support teams.
  • Assist as a Cashier in schools as needed to support during the serving period.
  • Back up the Nutrition Services Buyer Technician duties as assigned.

Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment:
This position requires the ability to use basic office equipment, including computers, copiers, and scanners. Must always comply with OPS's guidelines for equipment use.

Travel:
Travel within the District will be required.

  • Must be able to respond rapidly in emergency situations.
  • Must have organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work in an office environment, school buildings, and warehouse settings.
  • Ability to lift, move, and reposition objects and materials- frequently exerting force equal to lifting 50 pounds.

Interrelations:

  • Contact with district personnel, customers, and vendors.
  • Will work under the direct supervision of the department supervisor to complete day-to-day tasks.
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

  • For schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours on each designated workday, unless they have approved leave.
  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator.
  • All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science, Business, Food Service Management, Nutrition, or a specialist-related endorsement.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, preferred.
  • Experience supporting Windows and Macintosh operating systems and instructional software.
  • Experience with school nutrition software platforms.
  • Experience with Point of Sale (POS) configuration, hardware deployment, support, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to track by location numerous devices, printers, and other hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience in device maintenance, identifying and troubleshooting network and hardware problems, including devices, printers, and scanners.
  • Network connectivity troubleshooting for all school kitchen/cafeteria sites.
  • Web development experience preferred.
  • Understand and comply with all software licensing procedures.
  • Maintain and research current and new hardware and software pertinent to the Nutrition Services department, including assisting with Requests for Proposal.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual language skills preferred.
