Part‑time Custodian – Nebraska Department of Education

We are looking for a responsible part‑time custodian to help maintain and protect our facilities. This position is available for 10‑15 hours a week. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises, as well as preventing vandalism.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep, have great physical endurance to cover a large space, and possess a keen eye for detail and diligence.

Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and sanitization:
  Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other areas as assigned.
• Waste management:
  Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from classrooms, offices, and common areas. Empty and clean waste containers regularly and ensure proper segregation and disposal of different types of waste.
• Floor care:
  Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of floors by mopping, buffing, waxing, and vacuuming. Identify and report any floor maintenance or repair needs.
• Restroom maintenance:
  Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly, ensuring a fresh and sanitary environment. Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
• Classroom setup:
  Assist in setting up classrooms for various activities, events, or meetings. Arrange furniture and equipment as per the instructions provided.
