Responsible for overseeing daily operations within a high-throughput, 24/7 commercial laboratory environment. This role ensures efficient workflow, resource planning, and consistent execution of testing activities while maintaining quality, productivity, and service commitments. The position balances hands‑on operational leadership with administrative oversight to drive performance, optimize processes, and support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate day‑to‑day laboratory operations, including staffing, scheduling, workflow management, and throughput planning.
  • Partner with laboratory leadership to hire, train, coach, and develop team members, reinforcing a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor operational performance through reporting, metrics, and KPIs; identify and implement improvements to productivity, turnaround times, and cost control.
  • Support budgeting, resource allocation, and capacity planning to align operations with demand and business priorities.
  • Ensure accurate, timely execution of work through adherence to established processes, documentation practices, and data management systems.
  • Maintain compliance with internal quality standards, accreditation requirements, and client commitments by embedding operational discipline into daily workflows.
  • Oversee equipment readiness, maintenance coordination, and supply availability to prevent disruptions and downtime.
  • Conduct routine operational reviews and process audits to ensure consistency, standardization, and adherence to procedures.
  • Manage sample intake, prioritization, and testing flow to meet turnaround expectations and service‑level commitments.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams and clients to address operational challenges, escalations, and service needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scalability, and service delivery.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure completion of required training and operational competencies.
Education & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial laboratory or technical operations environment; 3+ years of people leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing workflows, staffing, and performance in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven setting.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, regulated environments, and operational compliance frameworks; familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 or similar standards preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or comparable operational data systems preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and operations leadership experience.
