Job Description
Responsible for administration of the Company's Control Room Management (CRM) plan. Supports and manages the safe and efficient operation of the transmission system to maintain optimal reliability and integrity. Reviews daily safety alarms and ensures procedures are followed, controllers make a timely, proper response and appropriate documentation is in place. Responsible for the monthly KPI report and directs SCADA IT team with alarm issues.
Represent gas operational issues both internally and externally. This position supports internal and external customers by providing system optimization and innovative solutions for transportation service.
- Responsible for the annual review, update and implementation of the Control Room Management plan for BHE Pipeline Group to ensure compliance with PHMSA regulations. Monitor ongoing compliance with control room management operating procedures and ensure tasks are complete and adequate records are maintained. Identify and recommend process improvements and oversee their implementation as part of human performance improvement process.
- Critique procedures, operational practices and policies to maintain safe, efficient and reliable services for customers and adequately plan for critical or emergency situations affecting gas flow.
- Develop project plans, provide direction and coordinate project activities related to gas control operations. Work with facility planning on outage review, new construction and facility enhancements to ensure continuity of service. Provide guidance to facility planning as to normal operations on the pipeline so they have a better understanding of the system. Analyze on a monthly basis maintenance project outages to determine system configuration to ensure service to customers.
- Manage and maintain the Company's Alarm Management Plan including alarm philosophy, rationalization and implementation. Review and evaluate monthly alarm KPI metrics and make recommendations for improvements.
- Review alarm response, approve all program compliance reports, administer and review the management of change process.
- Must understand physical capabilities/capacities of the pipeline and compressor stations and interpret nominated volumes such that inappropriate scheduling is avoided.
- Manage data collection into SCADA system. Direct response to data requests from internal and external parties.
- Provide internal and external support for system gas quality for determination of physical properties based on gas composition utilizing gas composition software.
- Develop and maintain risk management plans.
- Represent the BHE Pipeline Group during PHMSA Control Room Management plan audits.
- Support daily supply forecasting process and balance system load with supply.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or technical field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
- Five years of related experience - preference for candidates with prior experience in a control room environment. Knowledge of natural gas industry, including gas control, compliance, storage, peak shaving facilities, and supply.
- Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Superior analytical, problem-solving and leadership abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
