Job Summary

The Project Manager (Commercial Custodial) is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the custodial operations. This position provides strategic and operational oversight of commercial crew. The Project manager leads supervisors and front‑line teams, manages budgets and resources, and supports Goodwill’s mission including Ability One participation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize and direct custodial operations across retail stores.
  • Lead and mentor staff to ensure consistent operational excellence.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and development of custodial staff.
  • Develop staffing plans, schedules, and resource allocations aligned with requirements and budget.
  • Manage budget, labor costs, supplies and operational expenses.
  • Conduct periodic site inspections and audits to ensure quality, safety and custodial standards are met.
  • Proactively identify risks, service gaps, or opportunities for cleanliness improvement and implement corrective or enhancement plans.
  • Prepare and deliver client communications, reports and performance reviews as required.
  • Ensure appropriate accommodation and support for Ability One employees based on functional limits.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost‑control strategies while maintaining service quality.
  • Ensure custodial staff work in a safe and efficient manner according to OSHA/agency safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safety documentation.
  • Drive Goodwill vehicles to designated work locations safety and on schedule.
  • Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe condition and comply with all DOT and Goodwill policies.
  • Represent Goodwill positively while operating vehicles and interacting with the public.
  • Meet or exceed the attendance expectations for this position.
  • Actively maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment that promotes the physical and emotional well‑being of employees, customers, and participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Federal background clearance is required for this position. Must be able to maintain federal background clearance for this position.

Education And/Or Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Business, Facilities Management, Operations or a related field is preferred.
  • Five (5) years custodial experience required.
  • Three (3) years of Management experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office-Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Must have excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Must be able to operate and instruct in use of cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain a good driving record that meets our Insurance Company’s Guidelines.
Physical Demands

Medium
Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Limited
General office environment infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.)
