Senior Product Manager
Senior Product Manager owns the growth and profitability for an assigned line of business or region, developing product & pricing strategy while safeguarding financial strength and enhancing agent & client experience and risk management.
Responsibilities- Owns growth and profitability, including YoY growth targets, developing rate plans and proactively identifying and addressing key concerns.
- Provides monitoring and surveillance of key initiatives, elevates concerns and proposes solutions to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Oversees vendor management and partnership for LOB/region initiatives (e.g., HSB).
- Identifies new focus markets and a strategy to profitably grow those markets.
- Reimagines value delivery by leading agent/client workshops to better understand client needs and serves as a product and market expert.
- Proactively identifies, assesses, and implements solutions to control broad risks (ERM), including recommendations on CAT management, reinsurance structure, and agency footprint.
- Provides the leadership team with periodic industry intelligence on emerging issues.
- Helps develop the product management team by cultivating an inclusive culture, engaging the team, and providing training and mentoring.
- Reviews pricing, design features, and critical success factors such as distribution, marketing, underwriting, and claims to make recommendations.
- Works collaboratively across divisions to incorporate expertise into a holistic strategy.
- Works closely with other areas and IT to determine project prioritization and implementation.
- Provides leadership to all functional areas related to product design and management.
- Makes recommendations based on deep functional and regional knowledge.
- Utilizes industry reporting tools to provide competitor insight, market share, and performance within a region or line of business to senior leadership.
- Works with the Business Intelligence team to develop standardized monthly reports for specified region or line of business.
- Recommends product enhancements and new products based on competitor, field, and client feedback.
- Works with marketing to identify focus areas and opportunities and develops marketing collateral (agent and client facing).
- Manages strategies related to multiple product profitability objectives.
- Works cross‑functionally with underwriting, claims, and agencies to identify loss drivers and implement mitigation strategies.
- Leads coordination and implementation of new products and product changes.
- Spearheads product‑related internal and external training and education.
- Develops and executes a long‑term business product plan that drives profitable growth at the local market level.
- Serves as a technical resource to leadership and other functional areas.
- Analyzes financial results, product profitability, business mix, and competitive information; designs forecasting models.
- Guides the process of sponsoring or evaluating new tools and technology to enhance product performance with a focus on innovation.
- Validates effective execution of pricing and product initiatives.
- Leads and coordinates critical internal processes, including Growth & Profitability calls and Operational Reviews.
- Leads the Product Development process.
- Leads cross‑functional strategy teams and works closely with Regional Field Executives to execute strategy.
- Builds project charters and execution plans for product enhancements and new offerings in partnership with the Project Management Organization.
- Develops annual growth plans by agent, MLGA, state, region, and line of business along with the Acting team.
- Creates annual business plans for assigned lines of business or region, including product development projects, Growth & Profitability actions, and regulatory changes.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 8 to 10 years of insurance industry experience.
- Six years of previous Product Management experience or a minimum of eight years in underwriting/actuarial or other industry experience with at least two years of Product Management experience.
