Summary of the Job
The Managing Director, Community Banking leads a team of Relationship Managers focused on growth and retention of business customers. This leadership role coaches bankers, measures success by the performance of the team, and ensures that each Relationship Manager meets high standards of service and territory development.

Key AccountabilitiesPeople Management:
Build, develop and retain a multi‑city team of Relationship Managers, align strengths to roles, set measurable expectations, provide coaching and development opportunities, and hold members accountable for performance and use of FNBO systems.
Business Development & Net New Growth:
Drive organic growth across assigned communities, build relationships with attorneys, accountants, advisors, and business leaders, and serve as an active new‑business resource to the team.
Relationship Management & Customer
Experience:
Deliver superior service, achieve loan and deposit growth targets, oversee credit decisions within authority limits, and ensure advice and value delivered to varied business customer types.
Strategy and Planner:
Develop and execute a clear vision and plan for the RM team, partner with leaders to accelerate income and growth, and provide status reports to the Regional Leader.
Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Execute the One Bank Partner Strategy, partner across business and support groups, and coordinate with the Regional Leader, fellow Managing Directors, and Relationship Managers to accelerate loan, deposit, and fee growth.
Risk and Compliance:
Identify risks, establish controls, ensure risk‑management hygiene, and comply with bank policy, OCC regulations and the BSA/AML Program. Report violations and address employee performance issues.
- Develop and retain a capable team of Relationship Managers across multiple cities.
- Communicate clear expectations, provide feedback and coaching, and hold team accountable for performance and use of FNBO systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with community centers of influence to generate referrals and prospects.
- Serve as a new‑business resource to Relationship Managers through coaching and opportunity sourcing.
- Drive organic net‑new customer growth and meet community growth targets.
- Oversee credit decisions, ensure compliance with credit policies, and manage risk within assigned authority.
- Lead cross‑functional collaboration and execute the One Bank Partner Strategy.
- Identify risk, establish controls, and maintain compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- 5–10 years in Commercial Banking Relationship Management with a proven track record of performance and client success.
- Deep business and credit knowledge of self‑employed, entrepreneurial, and professionally managed businesses.
- Understanding of customer journey mapping and delivering excellent customer experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Leadership, or a related field (MBA or graduate degree preferred).
- Strong professional behavior, community focus, and willingness to serve on community boards.
- Variable work schedule beyond traditional business hours to support community events.
- Unrestricted work authorization in the United States; no future sponsorship required.
