Chief Growth Officer

At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, we are a mission-driven organization dedicated to championing the health and well-being of our members and the communities we serve. Our team is the power behind that promise. And, as the industry rapidly evolves and we seek ways to optimize business processes and customer experiences, there's no greater time for forward-thinking professionals like you to join us in delivering on it!

As a member of Team Blue, you'll find purpose, opportunities and the support you need to build a meaningful career and make a powerful impact in our community.

The Chief Growth Officer is responsible for establishing and executing an enterprise growth strategy that aligns market competitiveness, financial performance, and operational readiness. This leader ensures the organization wins business because its value proposition is compelling and credible, not because of legacy position or short term concessions. The CGO partners closely with the CEO, CFO, and Executive Leadership Team to bring market backed insight into growth, pricing, product investment, and deal decisions, while building organizational confidence and consistency in how the company competes.

Candidates applying to this position must live within driving distance of the Omaha, Nebraska metro. This position will require 4+ days per week in the office.

Enterprise Growth Leadership

The Chief Growth Officer is accountable for setting and sustaining an enterprise-wide growth strategy that aligns market competitiveness, financial performance, operational readiness, and long-term brand credibility. This leader approaches growth through a portfolio lens, balancing momentum across lines of business while avoiding overconcentration or value eroding decisions. Sound judgment about where the organization should compete, and where it should not, is a core expectation of the role.

Strategic

Market and External Engagement

The Chief Growth Officer serves as a visible and credible senior executive presence in the market, strengthening the organization's relationships with brokers, consultants, employer customers, and community stakeholders. This role requires personal engagement with the most strategic relationships while ensuring broader market coverage is effective, consistent, and aligned with enterprise expectations.

Sales Strategy Oversight

The Chief Growth Officer provides executive leadership over sales strategy and outcomes while delegating day-to-day sales management to capable leaders. This role is accountable for results and for ensuring sales activity reflects enterprise pricing philosophy, financial discipline, and long-term market credibility, particularly in complex or high value situations.

Product, Pricing, and Go to Market Strategy

The Chief Growth Officer plays a central leadership role in shaping the company's product portfolio, pricing philosophy, and go to market approach. This leader brings clear market and customer insight into decisions related to product investment, repositioning, and exit, ensuring offerings are competitive, executable, and economically sound.

Strategic Account Management and Retention

The Chief Growth Officer is responsible for elevating the organization's approach to account management, particularly for its most important employer relationships. This includes establishing enterprise standards for segmentation, coverage, and escalation, and ensuring senior leaders are equipped to engage customers as long term strategic partners.

Enterprise Leadership

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Growth Officer brings enterprise judgment, composure, and a long-term perspective to leadership discussions and decisions, while maintaining strong external focus and bias toward action. This role acts as a trusted advisor to the CEO and peers, helping shape growth strategy, market positioning, and organizational confidence. Success in this role requires a customer-centric mindset, a drive for results, and the ability to move with urgency in competitive markets.
