POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Senior Operations Executive provides strategic and operational leadership for an assigned portfolio of YMCA branches, supervising, coaching, and developing Executive Directors to achieve branch and association goals. This position is responsible for strengthening branch performance, operational effectiveness, accountability, and collaboration across the association.
In addition to branch leadership responsibilities, this position serves as the association lead for Volunteer Engagement, strengthening volunteer recruitment, development, engagement, recognition, and retention while expanding meaningful opportunities for volunteers to advance the YMCA’s mission and impact in the communities we serve.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for assigned YMCA branches, coaching and holding Executive Directors accountable for performance, results, and key operational measures.
- Ensure effective, safe, and consistent branch operations while supporting community engagement, philanthropy, volunteer leadership, and collaboration across branches and association teams.
- Serve as the association champion for volunteer engagement, developing and implementing consistent strategies and tools to recruit, onboard, engage, recognize, and retain volunteers across branches, programs, and initiatives.
- Partner with Advancement, Executive Directors, and other leaders to strengthen advisory board recruitment, development, engagement, and effectiveness, while providing resources and best practices that promote strong volunteer leadership and community impact.
- Partner with Youth Sports to strengthen association-wide strategies for recruiting, onboarding, developing, recognizing, and retaining volunteer coaches, supporting a strong coach pipeline and positive volunteer experience while reinforcing YMCA values, safety, and child protection standards.
- Contribute to association-wide priorities and initiatives while fostering strong collaboration across Operations and association support teams.
- Model the YMCA’s mission, values, and commitment to strengthening community in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, business, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; three or more years of successful leadership experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit organization.
