Home Improvement Sr. Project Manager
The Home Improvement Sr. Project Manager is responsible for leading Habitat Omaha's Home Repair Project Management Team and ensuring the successful delivery of residential repair projects that support safe, healthy, and affordable housing. This position provides strategic oversight of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, contractor management, compliance, quality standards, and workplace safety across the Home Repair Program. At times, ability to perform other duties when needed.
The Senior Project Manager supervises project management staff and is accountable for recruiting, developing, coaching, and evaluating team members. This role also establishes and maintains strong relationships with contractors and trade partners to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Habitat Omaha's quality and safety expectations.
Responsibilities
Lead Home Repair Project Delivery
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Home Repair Project Management Team.
- Ensure project scopes, budgets, schedules, and implementation plans are developed and executed effectively.
- Establish and maintain project management standards, processes, and best practices.
- Monitor project performance and proactively address risks, delays, resource challenges, and budget concerns.
- Review and approve project scopes, timelines, budgets, and change orders as needed.
Manage Contractors & Trade Partners
- Build and maintain a network of qualified contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Recruit, evaluate, and onboard contractors to support Home Repair Program needs.
- Foster positive partnerships that promote accountability, quality workmanship, and timely project completion.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and organizational expectations.
- Support procurement and contractor selection activities.
Provide Financial Stewardship
- Oversee project budgets and financial performance across the Home Repair Program.
- Ensure accurate cost estimating, forecasting, budget management, and reporting.
- Monitor project expenditures and identify opportunities for improved cost control.
- Recommend corrective actions when projects exceed budget expectations.
- Partner with leadership to strengthen financial practices and improve operational efficiency.
Develop & Support Team Members
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain project management staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure team members have the tools and resources needed for success.
Champion Safety & Compliance
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and expectations across repair projects and job sites.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular safety reviews and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure projects comply with building codes, permitting requirements, and organizational standards.
Drive Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Establish quality standards aligned with industry best practices and Habitat Omaha expectations.
- Conduct project reviews and inspections to verify workmanship and project outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, customer experience, and program outcomes.
- Support process improvements that enhance service delivery and organizational impact.
Build Strong Stakeholder Relationships
- Collaborate with homeowners, contractors, funding partners, internal departments, and community stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are communicated clearly and professionally throughout the repair process.
- Represent Habitat Omaha positively within the community and construction industry.
