Overview
2nd Shift CNC Machinist - Conductix-Wampfler, a leading global manufacturer in the mobile electrification market, is looking to add a career-minded machinist to their team. We are seeking someone with a quality-focused and continuous improvement mindset. In this position, you will assist with daily production and scheduling and setup of both CNC and conventional machines. You will work with a variety of materials and components and handle special setups for customer projects.
This is a 2nd shift position.
Summary:
Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerance of finished workpiece, the sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and drill presses.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Sits and assembles parts into complete assemblies and verifies dimensions and alignment of the assembly.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Experience with building fixtures for drilling, milling, and turning.
- Responsible for checking the accuracy of engineering, sales, and manufacturing input to ensure the customer final product is correct and within quality acceptance guidelines.
- Communicate changes or corrections to appropriate departments for future product output consistency with customer expectations.
- Understands, supports, implements, and sustains 5S program initiatives and goals; upholds quality and EHS policy and core values.
- Other duties may be assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or ExperienceAssociate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two years related experience and/or training; or a minimum of four years of job shop related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Or certification of completion of a Certified Apprenticeship Program.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business and technical procedures. Ability to write. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
