Classification: Temporary - Minimum Pay $17.58 (compensation commensurate with level, education, and experience).
Job SummarySupport the Prototype Lab team by assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of machines and equipment. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth functioning of the lab, contributing to the development of innovative products, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Essential Position Functions- Assist Lab Coordinator with safe operations of lab machines and equipment.
- Assist faculty in training and learning process.
- Follow lab procedures for scheduling and checking in lab members, students, and visitors.
- Use equipment log sheets to monitor safety, usage, and clean up.
- Perform daily clean‑up of lab work areas and classrooms.
- Perform routine safety checks of shop equipment and report repairs needed.
- Record use of all tools, supplies, consumables, and materials using lab checkout and check‑in process.
- Consistently and dependably attend work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
- Assist in setup, calibration, and operation of prototype lab machines and related equipment.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary.
- Perform regular inspections of lab equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, ensuring lab is stocked for repairs and maintenance.
- Execute routine and emergency repairs on lab machines and equipment.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of CNC and/or 3D technology sufficient to perform essential functions.
- Knowledge of standard software applications used by the College or ability to learn same.
- Skill in organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with faculty members, students, and/or customers in a courteous, professional manner.
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team‑oriented environment.
- Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and components.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Demonstrated strong interest in a related field or two (2) years of work‑related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
- Must pass a background check.
