- Coordinate and improve information flow between engineering, production and robotic welding operations to enhance production performance.
- Utilize and improve the use of material management and scheduling systems to provide CNC data and project information to production personnel.
- Create, modify and maintain robotic welding programs and CNC data in accordance with production requirements.
- Demonstrate one-team and lean culture through daily actions and communication.
- Consistently meet expectations related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, Attendance and Teamwork.
- Maintain understanding of production routing and scheduling processes to support efficient production flow.
- Maintain understanding of material management systems, cutting list procedures and inventory processes.
- Maintain understanding of nesting processes and material utilization practices.
- Maintain understanding of revision control procedures and production documentation requirements.
- Maintain understanding of DWS welding procedures and robotic welding system capabilities.
- Interpret drawings, gather sheets and production documents to support fabrication and programming requirements.
- Troubleshoot and collaborate with production, engineering, detailing and other departments to resolve complex system, process and programming issues.
- Train team members on material management systems, CNC programming procedures and robotic welding programming processes.
- Work with detailing personnel to improve information flow between detailing software, material management systems and vendor-specific CNC software.
- Understand robotic welding system operation and support production personnel with programming and operational issues.
- Communicate with robotic welding equipment manufacturers and software providers to investigate and resolve technical issues.
- Provide support to robotic welding operators and production personnel as needed.
- Complete required documentation, reports and timecard entries accurately and timely.
- Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Work scheduled hours consistently and reliably with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read, interpret and utilize structural drawings, gather sheets, cut lists and production documents.
- Strong understanding of production routing, scheduling and fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of material management systems and inventory procedures.
- Strong understanding of robotic welding systems, CNC equipment and programming concepts.
- Knowledge of welding processes, welding procedures and fabrication practices.
- Knowledge of structural steel modeling and detailing software, including Tekla.
- Ability to utilize computers and software systems including Microsoft Office applications, material management systems, scheduling systems and CNC programming software.
- Ability to effectively communicate with production personnel, detailing personnel, engineers, supervisors, managers, vendors and equipment manufacturers.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train others on software systems, programming procedures and production processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to possess pride in workmanship, demonstrate attention to detail and work safely.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing production requirements.
- Stand OCCASIONALLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift.
- Walk OCCASIONALLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift. Distances range from a few feet to several hundred feet.
- Sit FREQUENTLY to CONTINUOUSLY.
- Lift weights up to 30 pounds OCCASIONALLY from floor to head level; up to 50 pounds RARELY to OCCASIONALLY from floor to chest level.
- Carry weights noted above distances from a few feet to several hundred feet.
- Climb OCCASIONALLY onto steps or ladders.
- Stoop or crouch OCCASIONALLY; kneel OCCASIONALLY; crawl OCCASIONALLY up to 10 feet as needed.
- Reach forward OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY; reach overhead OCCASIONALLY.
- Push and pull drawers open OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY.
- Gross finger dexterity required for mouse use; fine finger dexterity not required.
- Employee is expected to work 40 hours a week. Overtime and weekends may be required based on Drake-Williams Steel’s needs.
- Hear sufficiently to be aware of safety issues.
- Visual ability to read and interpret shop drawings; safety glasses are required in the shop area.
- Exposure to heat, cold, wet and humid conditions OCCASIONALLY in the shop area.
- Exposure to fumes, odors and dusts OCCasionally; exposure to solvents, greases, oils, and coolants OCCASIONALLY.
- Wear all required PPE including steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
- Pencil, Square, Tape Measure, Markers, and other miscellaneous office supplies.
