Location DescriptionWakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.
ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary: The Lead Person is responsible for working with the department supervisor, training new and existing personnel, ensuring a safe work environment, and assigning work tasks to department personnel. S/he will adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained.
This position has responsibility to comply with safety work rules, reinforce safety as a core value, and ensure that all policies and procedures related to Food Safety & Quality are followed uniformly to reduce product and process variability.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in training processing and production personnel in assigned department and update training when equipment changes or new procedures are implemented.
- Assign work tasks to department personnel.
- Assist with safety audits.
- Maintain control records related to processing.
- Maintain effective working relationships between department and other areas.
- Monitor lines for quality product and notify appropriate personnel of discrepancies.
- Monitor processing equipment to maintain proper production standards.
- Report and fill out maintenance notifications related to productivity, food safety, quality, and human safety.
- Encourage suggestions from employees to improve productivity, quality, or control cost of production.
- Maintain accurate downtime records and daily shift reports for all equipment in assigned area.
- Accurately complete daily paperwork, SAP, PEB, and Bill of Lading as needed.
- Operate forklift and pallet jack as needed.
- Follow proper SOPs.
- Assume personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to quality work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and report any conditions affecting food safety and quality.
- Be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills- Previous forklift and/or pallet jack experience desired.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence in English.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and team building skills; ability to direct, train, and motivate department personnel.
- Problem‑solving ability in varied situations.
- Work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
- Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others.
- Self‑motivated and willing to ask questions and seek direction.
- Responsible behavior at work and openness to change.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift and pallet jack license.
- Must work overtime or weekends when required.
