Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Purpose
This role accelerates business value by ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of the plant’s manufacturing systems and physical property. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, tool identification and usage, and small physical property repairs. Additional duties may involve operating equipment to improve processing times and decrease downtime.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct preventive maintenance on production equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Operate processing machinery and reduce equipment downtime.
- Apply blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to maintain manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of water plant operations and maintenance for Ice Makers, Compressors, Heat Exchangers, Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration Systems, Pumps, Condensers, and Compressors.
- Ensure manufacturing equipment is functional and supplies are ready; manage ordering and inventory of repair parts and service equipment.
- Test production quality by inspecting ice for clarity, cube size, and hole space.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
- Handle minor facility and building grounds maintenance, including changing light bulbs, painting, and structural repairs.
- Instruct and coach others in tool and equipment usage for general facility maintenance.
- Assist with bagging product and direct production workflow as needed.
- Facilitate basic data analysis for root cause identification.
- Conduct basic electrical and electronic systems maintenance without supervision.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and report to the Operation Manager.
- Complete safety checklists as required by the Safety/Risk Management Department.
- Adhere to industrial health and safety standards, applying advanced electrical and chemical safety measures.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
- Read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and work in a safe manner.
- Accurately gauge lengths of time and distance.
- Store and recall instructions in short‑term memory quickly.
- Concentrate and perform tasks requiring high levels of cognitive function and judgment.

None. This is an individual contributor position with no direct reports. The role may involve directing production workflow as needed.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- 6–8 years of work experience in an industrial maintenance operation.
- Maintenance certification from one of the following:
- Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Disciplines – State Certifying Authority
- Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator – Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association
- Certified Maintenance Technician Level III – International Maintenance Institute
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician – Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals
- High School diploma or GED.
Education and Experience
- 8+ years of work experience in an industrial maintenance operation.
- Completion of two of the following certifications:
- Programmable Logic Controller Certification – Electronics Technicians Association
- International Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Disciplines – State Certifying Authority
- Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator – Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association
- Certified Maintenance Technician Level III – International Maintenance Institute
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician – Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals
Physical Requirements
Conditions vary from normal office to all areas inside and outside the plant. Exposure to extreme temperature fluctuations, electrical hazards, ammonia, and heavy moving equipment. Requires working nights, weekends, and occasional travel. Overtime may be required. Role demands fast pace, rapid change, and the ability to manage stress and collaborate professionally. Must handle hand and heavy electric tools and lift at least 45lbs.
