Manual Machinist - Omaha
Conductix‑Wampfler, a leading global manufacturer in the mobile electrification market, is looking to add a career‑minded machinist to their team. We are looking for someone with a quality‑focused and continuous‑improvement mindset. In this position, you will assist with daily production, scheduling, and set up of manual machines. You will work with a variety of materials and components and help with special setups for customer projects.
Responsibilities- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and drill presses.
- Calculate and set machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, and enter commands to the machine control media.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining and adjust controls or media as required.
- Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
- Set up and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings.
- Assemble parts into complete assemblies and verify dimensions and alignment.
- Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Build fixtures for drilling, milling, and turning.
- Check the accuracy of engineering, sales, and manufacturing inputs, communicating changes to ensure quality acceptance.
- Support and uphold 5S program initiatives, quality, and ehs policies.
- Associate’s degree or completion of an apprenticeship in Machine/Tool and Die Technology, or equivalent technical training; or four or more years of job‑shop related experience.
- Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a quality environment.
- Problem‑solving and strong communication skills.
- Ability to run and set up manual equipment.
- Knowledge of 5S, quality and ehs policies.
