Saw Operator

This role involves operating saws and related fabrication equipment to cut materials accurately and support welding operations. You will work closely with welders to gather materials, prepare components, and make necessary adjustments before and after welds, while safely handling and moving heavy materials throughout the production area.

Responsibilities
  • Operate saws and related machines to cut materials according to specifications and production requirements.
  • Assist welders by gathering required materials and ensuring they are prepared and staged for welding.
  • Make adjustments to materials and components before and after welds to meet quality and dimensional standards.
  • Lift, move, and position materials weighing 40–50 lbs consistently and up to 75 lbs as needed.
  • Use a tape measure to verify measurements and ensure accurate cuts and material preparation.
  • Monitor saw and fabrication equipment during operation and report any issues or irregularities.
  • Perform basic problem solving on the production floor to keep work flowing efficiently.
  • Work closely with a small team of 2–3 individuals to coordinate tasks and meet production goals.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a loud, busy environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6+ months of experience as a saw operator.
  • Hands-on experience with saw operation in a fabrication or similar environment.
  • Ability to consistently lift 40–50 lbs and safely lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Capability to think on your feet and respond quickly to changing production needs.
  • Basic problem-solving skills in a production or fabrication setting.
  • Comfort working in a loud, busy industrial environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Crane operating experience (preferred but not required).
  • Construction experience (preferred but not required).
  • Experience in fabrication or metalworking environments is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with working around welding operations is beneficial.

Environment

This position is based in a non-climate-controlled industrial facility. It can be hot inside during the summer months and chilly in the winter, although heating is provided. You will work closely with 2–3 other team members in a busy production area where the noise level is consistently high and multiple operations occur at the same time. The environment is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting and movement of heavy materials, and you will be expected to follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
