Saw Operator — 1st Shift
Location: Omaha, NE
Pay: $/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced, hands-on Saw Operator to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Omaha. This position is responsible for operating and setting up various cutting equipment, accurately processing raw materials, performing quality inspections, and ensuring parts are prepared according to specifications.
The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machine operation, or material processing and be comfortable working with measurements, blueprints, and industrial equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Read and interpret job specifications, work instructions, blueprints, and drawings.
- Set stops, guides, and machine controls to cut material to specified lengths.
- Properly position and secure work pieces in cutting equipment.
- Set up and operate various saws and cutting equipment to prepare parts for machining and assembly.
- Operate equipment including CNC band saws, manual band saws, circular saws, cold-cut saws, table saws, and sanding equipment.
- Measure finished parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Inspect parts for defects and identify machine or material issues.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale from finished parts.
- Perform basic machine maintenance, including routine cleaning and lubrication.
- Safely operate an overhead crane to unload trucks and move/position raw materials.
- Mark and identify materials according to work instructions.
- Maintain accurate and organized material flow throughout the fabrication area.
- Perform quality checks to ensure finished products meet customer and manufacturing specifications.
- Communicate any discrepancies or corrections to the appropriate departments.
- Support 5S initiatives and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and EHS policies.
- Learn and operate additional machinery throughout the fabrication department as needed.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and increased efficiency.
- Assist in other work areas and duties as assigned.
- 3-6 months of related manufacturing, fabrication, machine operation, or material-processing experience preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, safety procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Comfortable using basic measuring tools and working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Previous experience operating industrial saws or cutting equipment strongly preferred.
- Overhead crane and/or forklift experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment or material issues.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
