ABOUT THIS POSITIONODM's Sous Chef assists the Hospitality Manager (Head Chef) in overseeing the kitchen and preparation of meals. This position creates meals and menus from the items on hand, providing meals to our men, women, & children living on campus, as well as community members in need. This position plays a key role in meeting the basic needs of those suffering from homelessness and poverty in our community.

- Prepare meals for ODM's dining hall/cafeteria alongside the Hospitality Manager (Head Chef), Kitchen Associate, and other staff/volunteers.
- Direct and encourage volunteers from the community as well as current ODM residents assisting in the kitchen.
- Use a creative mindset to properly utilize donated food products in creation of recipes and menus.
- Ensure the kitchen is kept clean and safe, maintaining ODM's "Excellent" rating from the health department.
- Oversee the kitchen in the absence of the Hospitality Manager.
- Exemplify Christ and share the gospel as opportunities arise.
- A visible relationship with Christ and ability to share the gospel. A regular attendee of a local Christian church.
- 2+ years of culinary education or experience.
- Experience cooking for large groups of people.
- A high level of flexibility and creativity in cooking.
- Experience in scratch cooking and baking.
- Experience operating a large variety of kitchen equipment.
- Good communication skills, and ability to speak to volunteers/donors about the mission of ODM and our current needs.
- Experience directing others and holding them accountable.
