Working directly with the Development team, the Development Coordinator will help achieve immediate and long-term fundraising goals and provide administrative support. Reporting to the Director of Development, daily duties will include maintaining donor database records, drafting gift acknowledgements, and assisting with grant and report management. The Development Coordinator plays a key role in managing central elements of donor communications, including coordinating e-blasts, newsletters, appeals, and the annual report.

The Development Coordinator will also support all aspects of special event planning, including one annual large-scale fundraiser and smaller cultivation events.

Primary Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions include the following and other duties as assigned:

  • Gift Processing & Data/Grants Management within CRM – Processing income in the Virtuous CRM database, providing regular and accurate recordings of funder data; creating reports and mailing lists. Maintaining grant application and reporting calendar through Virtuous CRM and helping to prepare information for applications and reports.
  • Acknowledgements / Gifts Receipting – Drafting and tracking of timely gift acknowledgement letters to individual, foundation, corporate, and government funders.
  • Communications Management – Leading efforts to create and distribute communications pieces to a donor audience, including e-blasts, newsletters, annual appeal, and annual report.
  • Event Management – Assisting in the planning and coordination of large-scale fundraiser and smaller cultivation events.
  • Donor Stewardship – Assisting in the development of engagement strategies and outreach to funders and prospects, having regular interface with Board Members and other funders.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Successful candidates will have 1-3 years’ experience as a development/administrative professional, preferably in the context of a small-to-medium-size nonprofit organization;
  • Bachelor's degree required; communications or business degree preferred
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills—and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including Board Members, strategic partners, and the public.
  • Have excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database experience preferred.
  • Ability to act with excellent judgment and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Prior experience with constituent relationship manager software (i.e., Virtuous CRM, Salesforce, Blackbaud, etc.) preferred.
  • Confident with Microsoft and Apple Products, Mac Operating Systems, and PC Operating Systems
  • Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to assist with special events outside of regular business hours on occasion.
  • Social media marketing and copywriting desired.
  • Basic photography and/or graphic design skills (digital and print) desired
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro) desired.
  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the organization’s service population, both individually and in groups.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, set priorities, delegate and meet deadlines with minimal supervision when faced with competing demands.
Physical and

Environmental Conditions:

Work is typically performed in an office environment with a high level of public contact, both over the phone and in person, varying hours depending on time of year. During peak recruitment periods incumbents will typically work extended hours, including weekends. This position requires travel within the community and the use of a personal vehicle. Occasional light lifting of large quantities of recruiting materials and display equipment that may weigh 30-50 pounds may be needed.
