Job Description and Hours The Home Delivered Meals (HDM) Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers who deliver nutritious meals to homebound older adults throughout the Metro area, Fremont, and Blair.
This position ensures efficient meal distribution through effective volunteer management, maintains strong volunteer engagement, and supports the delivery of reliable, compassionate service to program participants.
Essential Job Functions Core Responsibilities Maintain dependable attendance and report to work as scheduled.
Complete all required onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training.
Maintain strict confidentiality of participant information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Follow all ENOA and ENHSA policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, volunteers, catering partners, and the public.
Volunteer Recruitment & Development Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies.
Promote volunteer opportunities through community outreach, events, and online platforms.
Screen and onboard new volunteer applicants.
Coordinate and conduct volunteer orientation sessions.
Provide training materials and ensure understanding of policies and procedures.
Volunteer Coordination & Scheduling Prepare monthly volunteer delivery calendars, communications, and memos.
Ensure adequate route coverage at all times.
Communicate schedules, updates, and last-minute changes.
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers.
Volunteer Support & Engagement Provide guidance, respond to questions, and resolve issues.
Monitor volunteer participation and performance.
Build positive relationships with volunteers, clients, drivers, and staff.
Develop volunteer recognition programs, including appreciation events and awards.
Gather feedback to improve volunteer satisfaction and retention.
Recordkeeping & Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records.
Track participation metrics and activity levels.
Prepare volunteer reports for leadership review.
Compliance & Program Support Ensure volunteers comply with organizational policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
Enforce volunteer code of conduct guidelines.
Develop community partnerships to expand volunteer involvement.
Assist with day-to-day HDM program operations as needed.
Professional Standards & Collaboration Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with program, agency, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate effectively across departments to support program success.

Job Requirements Must be at least 19 years of age.
Valid driver’s license (Nebraska or Iowa) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Driving Requirements No moving violations within the past 12 months
No chargeable accidents within the past 12 months
No DUI/DWI within the past 5 years
Reliable personal vehicle and current auto insurance.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle, including cargo vans, safely and professionally.
Program Support Duties Provide backup assistance delivering meals and transporting routes.
Assist with catering pack-out when necessary.
Support intake and referral processing through structured phone interviews.
Perform other duties as assigned by the HDM Division Director or Executive Director.
Education, Training, and Experience High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in human services or volunteer coordination preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with older adults.
Effective documentation and data tracking skills.
Ability to supervise and support volunteers in a team-oriented environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Familiarity with the five-county service area and ability to travel in varying conditions.#INDLP
