Volunteer Coordinator
Oversees the Volunteer Program which is designed to assist in the delivery of agency programs and services. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing, recruiting, training, expanding, coordinating, scheduling, overseeing, and documenting all volunteer related activities, community engagements, and events on and off campus.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and implements goals/objectives for the volunteer program which reflect organizational values and mission.
- Manages the Volunteer Program CRM system, and trains others in its use.
- Conducts ongoing evaluation of programs and services delivered by volunteers, and implements improvements as appropriate.
- Responsible for Volunteer Program data collection and reporting, and shares reports with key SFH Staff.
- Assists Development Team and other agency staff with event planning and helps facilitate special events.
- Ensures compliance with volunteer data requirements of various funding organizations relating to management, tracking, and oversight of volunteers and visitors on our campus.
- Plans and implements formal and informal volunteer recognition activities to highlight the contributions of volunteers.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations and groups, including schools, universities, other agencies, churches, and corporate entities.
- Facilitates distribution, collection and data input of shelter and meal satisfaction surveys.
- Leads volunteer onboarding and training.
- Assists and follows up with volunteers to improve their volunteer experience.
- Leads all volunteer communication efforts.
- Develops and updates systems and procedures for establishing volunteer program assignments, including position descriptions and schedules.
- Assesses needs and identifies opportunities for volunteers, in coordination with other staff, to enhance program/service delivery.
- Creates and maintains volunteer activity and scheduling calendars for all program areas.
- Collaborates and trains staff members to safely work with volunteers to create a positive environment for all.
- Facilitates on-site volunteer opportunities with individuals and groups.
- Promotes the volunteer program within the community to gain support of the program, as well as the agency.
- Represents organization at various off-site volunteer/organization events and speaking engagements.
- Creates and updates the volunteer agreement, and ensures volunteers affirm their consent with the same.
- Keep current on knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to volunteerism.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education and
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Three years of experience in volunteer program administration, or comparable experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience presenting to individuals and groups.
- The ability to work 40 hours per week, with possible extended working hours during any particular day – including working many Saturdays and Sundays.
- Event planning experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the areas of substance abuse, mental health, and/or co-occurring disorders helpful.
- Ability to establish, build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with Development Team, other agency staff, diverse populations and various external publics.
- Ability to work independently, be organized and detail-oriented.
- Effective communicator with the ability to speak, listen and write in a clear and thorough manner using proper English, effective communication tools and effective techniques.
- Proficiency in Windows, Outlook/Email, internet, databased management, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Skill in analyzing and compiling data and preparing reports and presentations.
