Food Bank for the Heartland has connected our communities with food, resources, and hope since 1981. The fight against hunger is our ongoing, collaborative effort. In Short:The Donor Experience and Stewardship Coordinator serves as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for the Food Bank while providing administrative and operational support to the Development team. The position coordinates donor stewardship activities, supports fundraising campaigns and events, assists with cause marketing, third-party fundraising efforts, and preparation of donor communications and materials. This position’s focus on stewardship plays a key role in donor retention for the Food Bank.
In addition, this position coordinates daily front desk operations, including greeting and assisting visitors, responding to telephone and email inquiries, coordinating deliveries and mail, and connecting community members with appropriate Food Bank programs and resources. The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-oriented, detail-driven, responsive, and committed to providing exceptional service to donors, community members, visitors, and internal staff.
- Donor Stewardship and Development Support:
- Coordinate, support, and take an active role in donor stewardship activities and initiatives in collaboration with the Development team.
- Pull and compile basic donor reports, giving summaries, and other information to support development and stewardship efforts.
- Generate and distribute weekly donor thank-you lists and coordinate assignment of stewardship activities to Gift Officers.
- Work closely with Annual Giving Officer to implement mid-tier and monthly stewardship.
- Implement, maintain, and track the Development team’s stewardship milestone system to ensure timely and meaningful donor engagement.
- Assist with donor stewardship touchpoints, including thank-you calls, handwritten cards, recognition materials, and tokens of appreciation.
- Collaborate with the Development team on the selection, preparation, and distribution of holiday and major campaign donor gifts.
- Review Double the Donation Match 360 information and communicate with donors as needed to obtain required information and documentation to facilitate matching gifts.
- Maintain accurate and organized stewardship records and tracking information.
- Cause Marketing, Third-Party Fundraising and Grant Support:
- Coordinate tracking and administrative support for cause marketing activities and third-party fundraising initiatives.
- Participate in monthly DMC calls and maintain awareness of FANO cause marketing activities and opportunities.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update the cause marketing calendar to ensure accurate tracking of activities, deadlines, and commitments.
