Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Labor & Delivery position requiring NE or compact licensure, with competency in circulating ORs and newborn care.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in a hospital's Labor & Delivery unit with 16 labor rooms and 9 antepartum rooms
  • Level 1 trauma center with up to 400 births per month
  • Includes 3 OR suites for C-sections and a 7-bed triage unit for patients over 20 weeks
  • Typical patient ratios are 1:1-2 for labor and 1:2-3 for antepartum, following AWHONN guidelines
  • Nurses are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and pain medications
  • Schedules are 12-hour day shifts, with every third weekend required (may be up to every other based on need)
  • Requires working at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday
  • Float to Postpartum and occasionally to house as a sitter is expected
  • Uses Epic EMR and Obix EFM systems
  • Surgical scrubs are provided
  • Responsible for providing care for high-risk and routine OB patients including newborns
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including 24/7 OB/Neonatologist, residents, CRNAs, and surgical techs
  • Must adhere to strict fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails in patient care areas
  • 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation are provided
  • Holiday coverage required for at least one major and one minor holiday during the contract
  • RTO up to 7 days must be requested up front; additional time off is not approved
  • Will work in a team environment that values flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude
Requirements
  • Active NE or compact RN license in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent L&D nursing experience
  • Current BLS, NRP, and Intro to Fetal Monitoring certifications required
  • Competency in circulating in the OR and performing normal newborn assessments and routine infant care
  • Must provide a valid driver’s license for radius requirement verification
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Cannot be a current full time, part time, or PRN employee of any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility
  • Two professional references required: one supervisory reference from the past 12 months and one supervisory or peer reference from the past 3 years
