Department Details36 hours per week, 12‑hour day shift, rotating weekend and holidays. Day shift: 6:00 am to 6:30 pm.
Job SummaryThe Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The NA follows the resident’s care plan, applies infection prevention and control policies and personal protective equipment use, assists with basic health‑care needs, and supports residents’ psychosocial well‑being.
They transfer, reposition, assist walking, perform range‑of‑motion and passive exercises, prepare food and dining, assist with meals, record vital signs, document resident interactions, and support housekeeping, laundry, wellness and recreational programs. The NA may also participate in departmental or organization committees as needed.
- High school graduate or GED preferred; not required.
- Minimum age 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required; must be certified within four months of starting or be enrolled in a training program. Certification is provided by the facility.
- Completes yearly competency testing and maintains at least 12 hours of continuing education each year, along with department‑specific certifications.
- If applicable, must be certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
- May require classification as a Sanford Category II Driver; must provide a valid driver’s license, vehicle report, and medical clearance per Sanford Driving Policy.
