Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; scheduled on a 6-week rotation with every-other-weekend coverage and holiday rotation (NOC)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care for a variety of ICU patients, including ventilated and high-acuity patients
  • Manage ventilators and perform ventilator assessment and interventions when needed
  • Titrate drips safely and effectively (vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, heparin, insulin, octreotide)
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and eICU resources to optimize patient outcomes
  • Serve as an engaged unit team member—communicate clearly, support colleagues, and help maintain 1:2 (occasionally 1:3) patient ratios
  • Complete unit-specific orientation including classroom plus two 12-hour shifts and demonstrate skills on a pass/fail orientation exam

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (as listed in job details)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
  • Comfort and competency with ventilator management and titration of critical drips
  • Valid driver’s license at time of submittal (used for radius determination)
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts on a rotating schedule and meet upfront RTO requirements
Education
  • Active RN licensure (Registered Nurse)
  • Formal nursing education (ADN, diploma, or BSN) — RN licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
  • Critical care nursing and ICU workflow
  • Ventilator management and ARDS/vented patient care
  • Drip titration: vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, heparin, insulin, octreotide
  • Targeted temperature management (TTM) and BIS scoring familiarity
  • Experience with IABP care (rare but beneficial)
  • Proficiency with EPIC charting system
  • Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS) protocols
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessment skills
