American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level II trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring ACLS, NIHSS, and Epic experience with 12-hour night shifts.

Job Details

• Acute care stepdown/PCU unit in a Level II trauma hospital setting,

• 35-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring diagnoses,

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, with nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio,

• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications,

• Charting via Epic EMR,

• 12-hour night shifts ),

• Every other weekend required,

• Every third holiday required,

• Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab,

• No on-call or standby requirement,

• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted,

• Current certifications required (no pending): BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS,

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,

• Epic EMR experience,

• Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility - a driver's license is required for consideration and used to verify permanent address,

• Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity,

• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,

• Copy of driver's license required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of onboarding during the first week followed by 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation,

• RNs must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% - failure to pass results in contract termination,

• Artificial nails are strictly prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination,

• A fast-paced unit where success depends on a positive attitude, effective communication, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills,

• RTO of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved,

• Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at Common Spirit facilities may still be considered
