Case Management Nurse
- Cardiac Surgery Position Highlights

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Case Management Nurse to join our Cardiac Surgery team, this role is located in Omaha, NE. A Case Management Nurse for Cardiac Surgery works directly with the physicians and APPs to provide patient education, scheduling, and triage all patient messages and phone calls.

Job Duties

Manage a system of patient care delivery for a designated group of patients to achieve high quality, cost‑effective outcomes across the continuum of health care.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years nursing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and make independent clinical judgments.
  • Experience with basic patient care equipment, policy procedure and protocol manuals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Effective critical thinking/analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively evaluate care across the continuum.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or holds a current compact state license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program, effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later.
  • Required knowledge of patient care standards in the state of Nebraska.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior nursing experience in a related field.
  • Experience in oncology, cardiovascular care, neonatal intensive care, nephrology, solid organ transplantation, general medical/surgical care, emergency care, critical care, med spa, dialysis, or interpretation and explanation of physical/laboratory/screening results.
  • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
  • Successful completion of a nephrology nurse education program.
  • Knowledge of health care financial environment and reimbursement systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with graphic software.
  • Experience with patient teaching materials.
  • Understanding of related patient registries and databases.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN), Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy, transplant coordination, or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
