Overview
Registered Nurse - Emergency Services (RN, Staff Nurse) for the Third Shift at a 48-bed Emergency Department and tertiary referral center. Provides care across a range of acuities, conditions and ages. Nursing ratios vary by care area and patient acuity.
Responsibilities- Provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet the holistic care needs of a designated group of patients. The care environment may be long-term, emergent, critical, acute, interventional, or procedural driven.
- Part-time or full-time
- Night shift (primary shift is 7:00 pm – 7:30 am)
- Weekend work, rotating holidays, on-call, and occasional backup on a secondary shift may be required
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required unless candidate meets all criteria for Exception A or Exception B
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or a current compact state license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required, department dependent; PALS within 6 months of hire or transfer date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date, department dependent
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) within one year or hire/transfer date, department dependent
- Exception details: EXCEPTION A or EXCEPTION B criteria as specified by the hiring entity
- Direct patient care experience
- Experience in areas such as cardiology, critical care, emergency department, medical-surgical, obstetrics, telemetry, oncology, NICU, PEDs, transplant, cath lab, EP lab, quality assurance related to health care, perioperative and special procedures
- Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- Relevant certifications or trainings (e.g., STABLE, smoking cessation counseling, basic critical care) preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications and email; proficiency with department equipment and systems
