Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro)

Omaha, NE

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite |

Shifts:

6:30 AM–7:00 PM / 6:30 PM–7:00 AM | Every other weekend required; 2–3 holidays (Thanksgiving through New Year's)

• Provide direct patient care on a 25-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit managing a patient population that includes strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery, joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, sepsis, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and other Med/Surg overflow patients
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine; manage PCA pumps
• Maintain telemetry awareness; telemetry technicians will interpret strips with RN expected to have foundational tele knowledge
• Perform consistent hourly rounding and maintain high responsiveness to patient needs throughout the shift
• Manage high patient throughput including multiple admissions and discharges per shift; float to other medical surgical areas or units with Med/Surg patients as needed
• Deliver culturally competent care to a diverse patient population, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese-speaking patients

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license with no background or license hits
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Current NIHSS certification (required)
• Ability to successfully pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Artificial nails are strictly prohibited; compliance with facility fingernail policy is mandatory

• Prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred; strong candidates without travel experience will be considered
• Experience with Med/Surg Telemetry patient populations and high-volume unit environments
• Demonstrated ability to manage a 1:5–6 patient ratio with strong organizational and time management skills

• Work in a well-supported unit environment with charge nurse coverage every shift, patient care techs, telemetry technicians, and mechanical lifts available throughout the unit
