Registered Nurse Transplant
The role is for a registered nurse specializing in transplant care. This position involves providing medical surgical and telemetry care to adult patients. Patients include those pre and post liver, kidney, pancreas, and intestinal transplants. Adolescent patients aged 15 and older will also be on the unit, cared for by core staff only. The nurse will work in a 36-bed unit.
Ratios for patients are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 during nights. Night ratios can be occasionally 1:7, depending on staffing levels. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Experience in managing drips is essential across the unit. The role requires strong skills in telemetry monitoring and cardiac drips. Candidates must be prepared to float frequently to meet hospital staffing needs.
Travelers may float to various units as part of their responsibilities. The facility is a 100% nicotine-free environment. Weekends will require four shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period. Travelers must work two out of three major holidays. RTO restrictions apply and must be disclosed with the application. Preference is given to candidates with trauma level I experience.
The unit has interdisciplinary support from various services. Special equipment such as overhead lift equipment and patient monitoring is available. The unit provides frequent wound care and surgical drain management as well.
