A Brief Overview Coordinates professional nursing and individualized, family centered care to patients/families through the use of the nursing process and clinical skills in accordance with standards and hospital policies and procedures. On call responsibilities vary depending on department. Varied schedules to include weekend and holiday patterns.
Essential Functions
- Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined unit scope and nursing practice standards, appropriate collaborative problems (CPG's)/nursing diagnoses(ND's), or protocols. (Individualized refers to the patient's developmental, cognitive, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational/family influences and physical/medical care needs.)
- Performs reassessment based on unit standards, CPG's/ND's, protocols and changes in patient condition. Communicates changes to appropriate persons (MD, Charge RN, family) as indicated
- Cath Lab:
Schedules cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures with patient family. Works closely with all affected personnel: OR supervisors, OR Manager, HCL staff and Director of Anesthesia. - Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using CPG/ND's, and practice guidelines/protocols to meet identified needs. (Plan of Care includes current and anticipated actions focused on care, education, discharge needs.)
- Implements and evaluates nursing actions in accordance with the individualized patient/family plan of care and patient condition/needs.
- Documentation reflects accurate assessment/evaluation, modification, and patient's response to therapy, changes in condition, and therapeutic interventions/procedures.
- Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
- Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section
- Assists FCC Coordinator in arranging and coordinating appointments prior to the delivery process.
- Accepts assignment to mentor student nurse observation experience in unit.
- Accepts assignments to share/teach knowledge and provide clinical support as a relief preceptor for new staff.
- Professionally seeks opportunities to help teammates during shift as needed.
- Accepts and completes other assigned tasks in a professional manner.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing Required or
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing Required
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience Required and
- Experience with pediatric patients Preferred and
- Previous experience with EPIC Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure current and valid in the state of Nebraska Upon Hire Required and
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required and
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (except NICU) within 180 Days Required and
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NICU only) within 180 Days Required and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Cath Lab, CARES and ED only) within 180 Days Required and
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ED only) within 1 Year Required and
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (ED only) within 1 Year…
