This position requires the ability to work with a variety of ICU acuity patients. Common diagnoses and types of patients include vented patients, BIS scoring, TTM, and IABP (rarely). RNs are required to titrate drips, including but not limited to vasopressors/inotropes, sedatives, heparin, octreotide, and insulin. There is a charge nurse on each shift, and the charge nurse does take an assignment.
There are no nurse aides or patient care techs on this unit. Hospitalist or intensivist support is available 24/7. eICU support is provided in 14 rooms. Shifts are scheduled from 7 PM to 7 AM, with a 6-week scheduling period handled by a scheduler. Weekend requirements include six weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period. Holiday shifts will rotate with permanent staff.
Floating may be required to PCU or Med Surg. Scrub color is navy blue. Classroom orientation and additional shifts on the unit will be required for training. We are looking for positive nurses willing to work collaboratively as a team to overcome challenges. Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply will lead to termination of contract.
