Job Overview

Travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry assignment in Omaha, Nebraska. 25‑week assignment starting 08/10/2026, 12‑hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.

• Explain procedures, treatments, and medications to patients and families and address concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, document changes, and report concerns to the care team
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor responses
• Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical or surgical conditions
• Document patient information, vital signs, medications, treatments, and outcomes in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, PTs, social workers—to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs
• Ensure infection control practices are followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use
• Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan
• Facilitate discharge planning and coordinate with patients, families, and external resources for smooth transition to home
• Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

• One year of recent Med Surg / Telemetry RN experience
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification

• NIHSS Certification
• ACLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
• Other certifications or licenses as required for the position

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Reading, writing, and verbal communication in English
• Ability to read instructions, follow verbal guidance, and proficient use of a PC
• Physical ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel and maintain a positive professional attitude
• Technical/motor skills to perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and movement when assisting with procedures or using equipment
• Mental resilience to cope with frequent public contact, deadlines under pressure, and irregular schedules
