Description:
May be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts. All staff may be required to work as a Rover nurse or task nurse on inpatient units. This includes tasks such as turning, repositioning, bathing, and assisting with patient transport. Rovers may also perform ambulation, meal assistance, and medication administration within their comfort zone and training. This is a mixed-acuity unit with a total of 24 beds.
Patient ratios are 1:2 for PICU, 1:3 for PCU, and 1:4 for Acute. All requested days off must be stipulated in the contracts. If not included in the contract, staff will be responsible for trading shifts with core staff. The scheduling period is 4 weeks, with a week running from Monday to Sunday. Travelers do not self-schedule; they will be scheduled by the unit scheduler as per unit needs.
Minimum weekend requirement is 3 weekend shifts plus a Friday day or a Sunday night. Requests for scheduling preferences such as consecutive shifts will be considered but not guaranteed. 100% nicotine-free facility. Holidays:
Travelers are expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. No local candidates will be accepted; candidates must be more than 100 miles from the facility. Pending licenses are accepted, but if it is not in hand at the time of submission, the traveler will be booked six weeks out. Travelers must wear mandated scrubs in specified colors with logo upon arrival.
This unit provides interdisciplinary support, including IV teams, physical therapy, and other necessary services. Patient demographics include adolescents, infants, and pediatrics, with a significant portion consisting of pre/post-transplant and oncology cases. Blood administration, insulin administration, and managing indwelling catheters are some of the required skills. Preparation for a mixed acuity unit is necessary, as responsibilities may include management of post-surgical patients and critical care scenarios.
All contracts are scheduled to end on Sundays, following a workweek from Monday to Sunday. No time off will be permitted during the first week of orientation. Documentation must be submitted within 48-72 hours upon accepting the offer. The facility upholds a 100% nicotine-free policy.
