Overview

The advanced practice provider (APP) provides patient‑centered, specialized, evidence‑based care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education and advocacy. APPs are board‑certified providers that assume responsibility and accountability for health stabilization, promotion, and maintenance of acute and chronic illness or injury. This role contributes to the mission and vision of the organization by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Nebraska state statutes, administrative code and organization bylaws.

The APP is committed to a culture of clinical excellence, respect, innovation, and academic inquiry through collaborative practice with all members of the care delivery team.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for providing safe, comprehensive and compassionate clinical care.
  • Assesses patient, synthesizes and analyzes data, orders diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments, and evaluates clinical outcomes.
  • Seeks and integrates the perspectives of interprofessional team members in developing and implementing the plan of care.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prescribes medications and complex medical regimes while monitoring for desired and adverse outcomes, specific to the infant/child with high risk, complex acute, critical, or chronic conditions.
  • Applies evidence‑based medicine pertinent to neonatal/pediatric populations.
  • Continuously evaluates the relationships among access, cost, quality, safety and their influence on healthcare outcomes and sustainability.
  • Assumes leadership role to establish and monitor standards of practice and to improve patient care through sharing knowledge, leading teams and developing programs.
  • Constant consideration of child’s development, family’s readiness and resources when translating health information, education and support.
  • Demonstrates understanding of internal and external rules, regulations and legislation as it relates to APP practice, licensure, certification and billing compliance.
  • Maintains accurate log of credentialed procedures performed and demonstrates competency and expertise when performing credentialed procedures/specialty skills.
  • Serves as an advocate for the needs of the children and their families across the health‑care continuum ensuring the best patient/family experience possible. Care coordination per CMS and/or program guidelines and completes all required program education per CMS guidelines.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

Education Qualifications
  • Education as required by Department of Health and Human Services‑Regulation and Licensure Credentialing Division as represented by APRN licensure in the State of Nebraska.
Experience Qualifications
  • Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatrics Preferred.
Skills And Abilities
  • Satisfy all relevant criteria and qualifications outlined in the Medical Staff Policy on Allied Health Professional, required to be credentialed.
  • Maintains practice agreement with service of specialty, and practices within framework of respective scope of practice.
  • Must be knowledgeable in billing regulation practices to include documentation requirements/CPT coding regulations.
